Recreation In Alliance Nebraska
In historic downtown Alliance, Nebraska, the Carnegie Arts Center offers
exceptional interpretations of the heritage and ethnic cultures of Western Nebraska. Exhibits focus on visual arts and literary
contributions from Nebraska artists. Exhibits change monthly.
Sports & Recreation are key ingredients for family fun. With a climate and natural environment conducive for the natural habitat
found along the Western Plains, Alliance and Box Butte County are home to some premier hunting and fishing. Alliance is also home to a premier
18-hole golf course, tennis courts, a disc golf course, a rifle club, a motor cross, a premiere outdoor swimming
pool, and activities at the rodeo arena. The Alliance YMCA is also an active supporter of recreational activities.
Laing Lake is a large park located north of Alliance. You can enjoy any of the two miles of trails that begin in the park, or you can
visit the ducks and geese that make their homes on the lake. Fishing is also available along the shoreline or from the pier located on the north
side of the lake.
The Sunken Gardens located in Central Park creates a beautiful garden with seemingly endless varieties of flowers during the summer. Paths
wind throughout the Gardens, allowing visitors to see, smell, and enjoy everything around them.
Bask in the sunshine, or relax in the evening lights of the Central Park Fountain, the center of the Alliance Park System. The park is
listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and has been a source of community pride and enjoyment since the 1930s. The fountain is in
operation from Memorial Day week-end until the first of October each year. After dark, there is a lights and water display that should not be
missed.
